Luke 7 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jesus meets a mom on the saddest day of her life — and shows how deeply His heart cares.

Today's Story

Jesus came to a town called Nain with His disciples and a big crowd. As they got near the town gate, they met a very sad sight: a funeral. A woman's only son had died. She was a widow — her husband had already died — and now her only boy was gone too. She was heartbroken, and a large crowd walked with her, crying.

When Jesus saw the weeping mother, His heart filled with compassion for her. He felt her sadness deeply. “Don't cry,” He said gently.

Then Jesus walked up and touched the place where the young man lay. “Young man,” He said, “I say to you, get up!” And the boy who had died sat up and began to talk! Jesus gave him back to his mother, alive and well.

Everyone was amazed and filled with wonder. They praised God, saying, “God has come to help His people!” Jesus saw one hurting mom in a crowd, and His loving heart reached out to her.
