For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up
Today Jesus says something every kid loves to hear — and shows that NOBODY is too small or too unimportant for Him.
Today's Story
People were bringing their little children to Jesus so He could bless them. But the disciples tried to shoo them away. “Don't bother Jesus with kids!” they said.
When Jesus saw this, He was not happy with the disciples at all. “Let the little children come to Me!” He said. “Don't ever stop them! God's kingdom belongs to those who are like these children.” Then Jesus took the kids in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. Jesus had ALL the time in the world for children.
A rich man also came to Jesus, asking how to have life forever. He was a good man, but he loved his money too much to let it go and follow Jesus. He walked away sad. (Sometimes the things we hold onto too tightly keep us from following Jesus with our whole hearts.)
Later, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus heard Jesus passing by. He shouted as loud as he could: “Jesus! Have mercy on me!” People told him to be quiet, but he shouted even LOUDER. Jesus stopped and called him over. “What do you want?” “Teacher, I want to see!” “Go,” said Jesus. “Your faith has healed you.” And right away, Bartimaeus could see — and he followed Jesus down the road.
Children, a rich man, a blind beggar — Jesus welcomed and noticed every one. No one is too small or unimportant for Him.

- Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me!” How does it feel to know Jesus WANTS to spend time with kids like you?
- The rich man loved his money too much to follow Jesus. Is there anything you hold onto too tightly?
- Bartimaeus shouted for Jesus even when people told him to hush. When have you had to be bold to get to Jesus?
