Matthew 25 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jesus tells two stories about being ready to meet Him — and reveals where we can find Him today.

Today's Story

Jesus told a story about a master who gave his servants money (called “talents”) to take care of while he was away. Two servants used their talents well and made more — and the master was so pleased: “Well done, good and faithful servant!” But one servant was lazy and buried his talent in the ground, doing nothing with it. God gives each of us gifts and abilities, and He wants us to use them, not waste them.

Then Jesus told something beautiful about the day He returns. He said the King will say to the kind people, “Come, you who are blessed! When I was hungry, you fed Me. When I was thirsty, you gave Me a drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed Me. When I was sick, you cared for Me.”

They will be confused: “Lord, when did we ever do that for YOU?” And the King will answer, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these — the hungry, the lonely, the hurting — you did it for ME.”

Wow! When we show kindness to people in need, it's as if we're doing it for Jesus Himself. That's how much He loves every single person.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. God gives everyone gifts and abilities (like the talents). What's a gift or talent God has given YOU that you could use for good?
  2. Jesus said helping the hungry, lonely, and hurting is like helping Him. How does that change the way you see people in need?
  3. “Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for Me.” Who is someone you could show kindness to this week?
