Numbers 13 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

God's people were almost at the new home He had promised them — a good land, full of fruit. It was time to take a look.

Today's Story

Moses picked twelve brave men, one from each family group. “Go explore the land,” he said. “See what it's like. Bring back some fruit!” So off they went, like twelve scouts on a big adventure.

For forty days they explored. And wow — the land was wonderful! They found grapes so huge that two men carried one bunch on a pole between them. There was sweet honey and ripe fruit everywhere.

But they also saw tall, strong people living there. Really tall. And ten of the spies came back shaking with fear. “We can't go in!” they cried. “Those people are giants! Next to them we felt as small as grasshoppers!”

The people heard this and got scared too. But two of the spies were not afraid. Their names were Joshua and Caleb. Caleb stood up tall and said, “We can do this! Let's go! God is with us, and He is stronger than any giant!”

Ten men looked at the giants and felt tiny. But two men looked at God and felt brave. They remembered how big their God really is.
