God's people are standing right at the edge of the wonderful land God promised them. Now they have to decide: will they trust Him?
Today's Story
The spies had come back from the good land. Ten of them said, “The people there are too big and too strong. We can never beat them!” And the whole camp got scared.
That night the people cried and cried. “Why did God bring us all this way? We wish we had never come!” They forgot how God had saved them and fed them and walked with them the whole journey.
But two of the spies, Caleb and Joshua, stood up. “Don't be afraid!” they said. “The land is good, and God is with us. If God is with us, who can stand against us? Let's go!”
The people would not listen. They wanted to give up.
God was very sad that they would not trust Him after everything He had done. So God said, “You are not ready yet. You will keep traveling in the desert for a long time. But your children will go in one day — and Caleb and Joshua, who trusted Me, will see the good land too.”
God kept loving His people, even when they were afraid. He never let them go.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something that feels too big or too scary for you right now?
- Caleb and Joshua said, “God is with us, so let's go!” How might remembering that God is with you help you be brave?
- The people forgot all the good things God had already done for them. What good things has God done for you that you can remember?
