Numbers 16 for Kids

Some men decide they want to be in charge instead of Moses and Aaron. But who really gets to choose the leaders? Let's find out.

Today's Story

A man named Korah was not happy. He and a big group of men came to Moses and Aaron and complained. “Why do you two get to be the leaders? We are just as good as you! We want your jobs.”

But Moses had never picked himself to be the leader. God had chosen him. And God had chosen Aaron to do the special work near God's holy tent.

Moses was sad that the men were grumbling. He said, “Tomorrow morning, God will show everyone who truly belongs to Him. It is not for us to decide — it is for God.”

The next day, God made it very clear that He was the one who had chosen Moses and Aaron. The ground opened up, and Korah and the men who would not stop grumbling were gone. It was a sad and scary day, and the people learned a big lesson.

God wanted His people to trust the leaders He had given them, and to stop their grumbling. He loves it when we trust Him instead of pushing to be first.
