God's family was huge, and they were about to live in a desert camp. So God showed them exactly where each group should set up their tents.
Today's Story
Imagine a camp so big you could not see from one end to the other. That was God's family in the desert. Thousands and thousands of tents!
If everyone just plopped their tent down anywhere, it would be a giant, bumpy mess. So God gave them a plan. He said, “Here is where each family group goes.”
One big group camped on the east side. Another on the south. Another on the west, and another on the north. Each group had its own special place and its own flag to wave high.
And do you know what sat right in the very middle of the whole camp? God's special tent, where His people came to be close to Him. The tents made a big square all around it.
No matter which group you were in, when you looked toward the middle, you saw the same thing: God, right at the center of His people.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- When our family does something together, who likes to be in the middle of it all? Why?
- God put His tent right in the middle so He was close to everyone. Where do you feel closest to God?
- What does it mean to put God at the center of our day — the most important part?
