Out of all His big family, God chose one group for a very special job — taking care of His holy tent.
Today's Story
God's special tent needed a lot of looking after. Someone had to carry it when the people moved. Someone had to set it up, keep it clean, and guard it.
So God picked one family group to do that job. They were called the Levites. God said, “These will be My special helpers.”
It was a big honor. The Levites got to camp closest to God's tent. They got to carry the holy things. Every part of the tent had a Levite family in charge of it — the curtains, the poles, the gold things inside. Nothing was forgotten.
Being a helper for God was not a small job. It was one of the most important jobs in the whole camp. The Levites did not fight in battles or grow the crops. Their whole job was to take care of the place where people met with God.
God loves it when His people help. Even the smallest helper has a part that matters.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- What is a job you help with at home? How does it feel when someone says thank you?
- The Levites had the job of taking care of God's tent. What is one way our family can help take care of God's house, the church?
- Why do you think even the smallest helping job matters to God?
