Proverbs 20 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Proverbs is a book full of short, wise sayings. They are like tips from a loving dad who wants you to live a good life.

Today's Story

Have you ever played a game and your friend tried to peek at your cards? Or counted “one, two, three… ten!” and skipped a few numbers so they would win faster? It feels unfair, doesn't it?

Proverbs 20 talks about playing fair and being honest. It says God does not like it when someone uses one weight to buy and a different, sneaky weight to sell. Back then, people weighed coins and food on little scales. A cheater would hide a heavy stone here and a light stone there so they always came out ahead. God sees every trick like that. He loves honest scales.

Then comes one of the best lines in the whole chapter: “Even children are known by the way they act.” That means people can tell what is inside your heart just by watching what you do. When you tell the truth, share your snack, and finish your chores, people see a kind and honest kid - even when no grown-up reminds you.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. If someone watched you all day without you knowing, what good things would they see you do?
  2. Why do you think being honest matters, even in something small like a game or counting in hide-and-seek?
  3. When is it hardest for you to tell the truth? What could help you do it anyway?
