Proverbs is a book of short, wise sayings - helpful tips for living a good life, given like advice from a loving parent.
Today's Story
What is the most valuable thing you can think of? A pile of gold? A treasure chest? A whole room full of toys?
Proverbs 22 begins with a surprise. It says: “Being respected is more important than having great riches.” In other words, a good name is worth more than money. A “good name” means people know you as someone who tells the truth, keeps promises, and is kind. You can lose toys and money, but a good name is treasure you carry everywhere you go.
How do you get a good name? You build it one choice at a time. The chapter also says to teach a child the right way to go, and when they are old they will stay on it. That means the good habits you practice now - sharing, being honest, being gentle - become part of who you are. Every kind thing you do today is like laying one more brick in a strong, good name that will follow you your whole life.
