Psalm 102 is a prayer for the days when you feel sad or tired or lonely. It shows you exactly what to do with those feelings - tell them to God.
Today's Story
Some days are hard. The person who wrote this song was having one of those days. He felt sad and worn out and very alone.
He did not pretend he was fine. He told God exactly how he felt. He prayed, “Lord, hear my prayer. Listen to my cry for help.” He said he felt as small as a bird sitting all by itself on a rooftop.
And then the song turns. Like turning a corner and suddenly seeing the sun. The man looks up from his sad feelings and remembers something that is always, always true.
He says, “But you, Lord, sit on Your throne forever.” My sad day will end. My tired feeling will go away. But God does not end. God does not change. God will still be good and strong and kind tomorrow, and the day after, and forever.
That is where his hope came from - not because the hard part disappeared, but because God was bigger than the hard part. And God is listening to your hard days too.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Everybody has hard or sad days sometimes. What is something that makes you feel sad or worried? You can say it out loud - God loves to listen.
- The man in the song told God exactly how he felt instead of hiding it. Why do you think it helps to tell God the truth about our feelings?
- Sad days end, but God never ends. How does it feel to know God will still be with you tomorrow, no matter what today was like?
