Psalms 104 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Psalm 104 is a song that takes you on a walk all through the world God made - the sky, the water, the animals, the sun and moon - and says thank You for every bit of it.

Today's Story

The person who wrote Psalm 104 looked around at the whole world and could not stop saying thank You. The song begins, “Praise the Lord, O my soul. Lord my God, You are very great!”

Then it goes on a walk. Look at the light, the song says - God wraps Himself in it like a bright coat. Look at the wide sky, stretched out like a big tent. Look at the clouds and the wind.

Now look down low. There are cool streams bubbling in the valleys so the wild donkeys can drink. There are tall trees where the birds build their nests and sing. There is green grass for the cows and food that comes up from the ground.

God made the moon to mark the months and the sun that knows just when to set. When it gets dark, the lions go out. When morning comes, people go to work. Even the great big sea is full of creatures too many to count.

And here is the amazing part: every single one of them waits for God to give it food. He opens His hand, and they are fed. The song nearly bursts: “Lord, You have made so many things! You made them all so wisely.”

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. The song goes on a walk through everything God made. If you went on a thank-You walk outside right now, what is the first thing you would thank God for?
  2. Every animal waits for God to give it food, and He does. What does that tell you about the way God takes care of His world - and of you?
  3. What is your favorite animal? Why do you think God thought of making it?
