Psalms 107 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Psalm 107 is a thank-you song. It tells four little stories of people in trouble who called out to God - and He came to help every time.

Today's Story

This song says: if God has helped you, then say so! Tell everyone! So it tells four stories.

First, some travelers were lost in the desert. They were tired and hungry, and they could not find the way home. They called out, “God, help us!” And God led them straight to a good city.

Next, some people were stuck and could not get free. They called out to God. And God set them free.

Then, some people were very sick. They called out to God. And God made them well again.

Last is my favorite. Some sailors were out on the sea when a huge storm came. The waves went up so high, then crashed down so low. The sailors were terrified! They cried, “God, help us!” And God whispered to the storm, and the wind went quiet, and the waves lay down flat and calm.

After every story, the song sings the same happy words: “Give thanks to the Lord for his great love.”

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. When something feels too big or too scary, who do you call for help? What do you say?
  2. The sailors were so afraid in the storm, but God made the sea calm. Is there something you feel afraid of right now that you could ask God to help with?
  3. The song says, “If God has helped you, tell everyone!” What is one way God has helped you that you could tell someone about?
