Psalms 108 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 108 is a wake-up song. King David starts his day by singing to God before he does anything else.

Today's Story

King David wakes up, and the very first thing he wants to do is sing.

“My heart is sure, O God!” he sings. He means his heart is set firm, like it is glued in place. He has made up his mind: I will trust God today.

He says, “Wake up, harp! Wake up, lyre!” Those are like little guitars. David is so happy he wants the music to wake up too. “I will praise You when the sun comes up,” he sings.

Then David looks up at the sky and says something big: God's love is so high it reaches past the clouds. His goodness goes all the way up to the sky. There is no end to it!

David has a hard thing coming that day - something too big for him on his own. So he asks God for help. And he says, “With God on our side, we will win.”

David did not wait until things got easy to sing. He sang first, and trusted God to handle the hard part.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? What if you said “Thank You, God” first?
  2. David sang to God before his hard day even started. What is one hard thing coming up for you that you could ask God to help with first?
  3. David says God's love is higher than the clouds. How big do you think God's love is?
