Psalms 122 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 122 is a happy song King David wrote about going to worship God with other people. He loved going to God's house!

Today's Story

What is something that makes you say, “Yay! Let's go!”? Maybe the park, or a friend's house, or grandma's.

For King David, the most exciting words in the world were these: “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

“I was filled with joy when they said that to me,” David sings. He could not wait. Going to worship God with other people made his heart so happy.

Long ago, the special place to worship God was a city called Jerusalem. People came from all over, walking together up the road, singing songs the whole way. Friends and families and neighbors, all going to the same place to say thank You to God.

When they got there, they sang and prayed together. And David prayed something kind. He prayed, “May there be peace inside this city.” He wanted everyone there to be safe and happy and at peace.

It is a beautiful thing to worship God all by yourself. And it is also a beautiful thing to worship God together - singing and praying side by side with people you love.
