Psalm 132 is a song people sang on their way up to worship. It remembers King David and a big promise he made to God - and the even bigger promise God made back.
Today's Story
King David lived in a beautiful house. But it bothered him. He thought, “I have a fine home, but there is no special place built yet for God!”
So David made a big promise. The song says he told God, “I will not rest. I will not even sleep until I find a place for the Lord.” David wanted to bring the special golden box, called the ark, into a home where everyone could come and worship.
And he did it! The people sang as they carried the ark, “Let us go to God's house! Let us worship Him!” There was music and joy and happy singing.
Then something wonderful happened. God made a promise back to David. God said He would always be near His people, and that one of David's family would always be a special king. God even said, “This is My home. I love it here. I will stay.”
David wanted to give God a home. And God said, in a way, “I want to make My home with you, too.”
What a happy trade of promises. David kept his, and God always keeps His.
