Psalms 133 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 133 is a short, happy song King David wrote about one of the best things in the world: people who love each other getting along together.

Today's Story

King David starts this little song with a big, joyful shout: “How good and how wonderful it is when God's people live together and get along!”

Think about how nice it feels when everyone is being kind. No fighting. No mean words. Just brothers and sisters and friends helping and sharing and laughing together. David says that makes God so happy.

Then David paints two pictures to show how good it feels. The first one is sweet-smelling oil, the kind they used for special, happy celebrations. It was poured on a person's head, and it ran all the way down, filling the whole room with a lovely smell. Getting along feels that good - like a wonderful smell spreading everywhere.

The second picture is the morning dew. Have you ever seen tiny drops of water sparkling on the grass first thing in the morning? It makes everything fresh and green and alive. David says love between God's people is like that fresh, sparkling dew.

And he says when people live together this way, God pours out His blessing on them. Getting along is not just nice. It is a gift from God.
