Psalm 139 is King David's amazed discovery: there is nowhere he can go where God isn't, and there is no part of him God doesn't know and love.
Today's Story
King David sat down to think about God. And the more he thought, the more amazed he got.
“God, You know me,” he wrote. “You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know what I'm going to say before I even say it. You know me all the way through.”
“And there's nowhere I could go to get away from You. If I flew up to the sky — You're there. If I went down to the deepest, darkest place — You're there too. If I rode the morning sunlight all the way across the ocean, even there Your hand would hold me.”
“Even in the dark, You can see me — because to You, the dark is as bright as day.”
Then David thought about how he was made. “You put me together inside my mom. You made every single part of me. I praise You, because the way You made me is amazing and wonderful.”
And David ended with a prayer: “Search me, God. Know my heart. And lead me in Your good way.”

Talk About It
- God knows everything about you — even what you're about to say — and loves you completely. How does that feel?
- David said there's nowhere he could go where God isn't. Where's a place you've felt alone? God was right there too.
- God made you “amazing and wonderful,” on purpose. What's one thing about how God made you that you're thankful for?
