Psalm 14 is a short song King David wrote. It is about the wisest thing anyone can ever know.
Today's Story
King David looked around at the world and noticed something sad. Some people lived as if God were not real at all.
“Foolish people say in their hearts, There is no God,” David wrote. They forgot Him. They were not kind. They did whatever they wanted, like nobody was watching.
But Someone was watching - with love. David says God leaned down and looked out over the whole earth. He was searching, the way a parent searches a crowd for their own child. He wanted to find the people who still remembered Him.
And here is the happy part. God is not far away and He has not forgotten. He is close to every person who loves Him. He keeps them safe like a strong hiding place.
So David ends his song with a wish, almost a cheer: Oh, how I hope God will come and help His people! When God shows up, David says, everyone will be glad.
The smartest thing you will ever know is not your numbers or your letters. It is this: God is real, God is good, and God is near.

Talk About It
- When you are by yourself and nobody is looking, do you act the same as when others are watching? Why or why not?
- David says God is close to everyone who loves Him. Where do you feel closest to God?
- What is one true thing about God you would want to tell a friend who had never heard about Him?
