Psalms 15 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 15 is a short song that asks one big question: who gets to stay close to God?

Today's Story

King David asks God a question right at the start: Lord, who can live in your sacred tent? Who gets to stay close to You?

Back then, God's special tent was the most wonderful place to be. It was like being invited into the best house, with the kindest host ever.

So what does a guest in God's house look like? David makes a little list. The person who gets to stay close to God is the one who tells the truth, even when it is hard. The one who is kind and does not say mean things about other people.

It is the person who keeps a promise once they make it. The person who is fair, and who helps people who do not have very much.

None of these are huge or fancy. They are little, everyday choices - the kind you can make today, at home, on the playground, with your brother or sister.

God loves you no matter what. And when we live close to Him, our lives start to look more and more like His - full of truth and kindness. That is what it means to live in God's house.

Talk About It

  1. When was a time this week that telling the truth was hard? What did you do?
  2. David says God's friends keep their promises. What is one promise someone made that made you feel safe and loved?
  3. Which thing on David's list - telling the truth, being kind, keeping promises, or helping - do you want to practice most this week?
