Psalm 19 is a song about two ways God tells us how great He is: with the sky, and with His words.
Today's Story
King David looked up one day and noticed the sky was telling him something.
“The heavens tell about the glory of God,” he sang. “The skies show that His hands created them.” The bright blue daytime, the puffy clouds, the stars sprinkled across the night - all of it is like a giant shout: Look how great God is!
The sky does not use any words at all. And yet everywhere on earth, people can look up and know that Someone wonderful made it. David watched the sun rise and cross the whole sky, warm and strong and never tired.
Then David thought about the other way God speaks - with His words, the things He tells us in the Bible. David loved God's words so much. He said they are worth more than a giant pile of gold. They are even sweeter than honey dripping off a spoon!
So God shows us how great He is in two ways: when we look up at the wonderful sky, and when we listen to His good, sweet words.
David ends with a little prayer: God, may the words I say and the thoughts in my heart make You happy.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When you looked up at the sky today, what did you see? What does it make you think about God?
- David says God's words are sweeter than honey. What is the sweetest thing you have ever tasted? God's words are even better than that!
- The sky tells about God without any words at all. How could you tell someone about God without even talking?
