Psalm 29 is a big, loud praise song. King David listened to a giant thunderstorm and heard something amazing in it - the voice of God.
Today's Story
Have you ever heard a giant thunderstorm? The sky flashes. The thunder booms so loud you can feel it in your chest. Big trees bend in the wind.
King David heard a storm like that. And it made him think about how big and strong God is.
“Listen!” David sings. “That is the voice of the Lord! His voice is over the water. His voice is mighty. His voice is full of power.”
David says God's voice is so strong it can shake the tallest trees and make the mountains skip like baby goats. Boom! Crash! The whole earth listens when God speaks.
That might sound a little scary. But here is the best part.
This same God - the one whose voice is louder than thunder - is the God who takes care of you. And David ends his song with quiet, happy words:
“The Lord gives strength to His people. The Lord blesses His people with peace.”
The God of the big storm gives you a calm, safe heart.
