Psalm 30 is a happy thank-you song. King David had been very sad and very sick - and now that he is better, he can't stop saying thank You to God.
Today's Story
King David was in a deep, dark, sad place. He was sick. He felt like he had fallen all the way down into a pit, and he could not climb out.
So David cried out, “God, please help me!”
And God did. God reached down and lifted David up, the way a parent lifts a child out of a hole. David got better. The sadness went away.
Now David is so thankful he wants to sing forever. “God, You lifted me up!” he sings. “I cried for help, and You made me well.”
Then David says one of the most beautiful things in the whole Bible. He says crying might last all through the night - but joy comes in the morning. The sad night does not last forever. Morning always comes.
“You turned my crying into dancing,” David sings. “You took away my sad clothes and dressed me in happy ones. So I will sing thank You and never stop!”
