Psalms 3 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 3 is a song King David sang on a really hard day, when lots of trouble was all around him.

Today's Story

King David was having one of the hardest days of his whole life. So many troubles were piled up around him that he felt like the whole world was against him. People even said, “God won't help you now.”

But David did not believe them. He looked up and prayed, “God, You are like a shield all around me. You lift my head up high when I feel low.”

Then David did something brave. He lay down in his bed… and he fell asleep. Even with all that trouble outside, he closed his eyes and slept the whole night through. And in the morning, he woke up safe.

How could he sleep on such a scary night? Because he knew God was watching over him the whole time. David said, “I sleep and wake up again, because the Lord keeps me safe.”

When morning came, David wasn't afraid anymore. He knew that help comes from God. So he sang a thank-you song instead.
