Psalm 33 is a happy song. It tells everyone who loves God to sing out loud and be glad.
Today's Story
This psalm is a big, joyful song. It starts by telling everyone who loves God, “Sing for joy to the Lord!” Grab a harp! Play the strings! Make a happy new song and sing it loud!
Why are we so glad? Because God is good, and everything He says is true. He loves what is right and kind. And His faithful love - the love that never gives up - fills the whole wide earth.
Then the song stops to remember something amazing. How did the sky get there? How did the sea get there? God spoke. He just said the word, and the sky was made. He gathered the great big ocean like someone pouring water into a jar. He said it, and there it was!
So the song says everyone everywhere should be amazed at God. He sees every person on earth from way up high. He watches over the ones who love Him and trust Him. No king is saved by his big army. No soldier is saved by how strong he is. But God keeps safe the people who put their hope in His love.
And so the song ends happy: “We wait for the Lord. He is our help. Our hearts are glad in Him!”
