Psalm 35 is an honest song. King David wrote it when people were being unfair to him, and he told God exactly how he felt.
Today's Story
Some people were being really unfair to King David. He had not done anything wrong to them. He had even been kind to them when they were sad! But now they were mean to him for no good reason, and it hurt his heart.
Have you ever felt that? When something is just not fair, your tummy gets tight and your face gets hot. You want to yell. You want to hit back.
Here is the brave thing David did. He did not hit back. Instead, he took all those big, hot, hurt feelings and he brought every one of them to God. He told God the whole truth. “God, this is not fair! Please help me! Please stand up for me!”
David did not use pretty, quiet words. He told God how angry and sad he really felt. And that was okay. God is big enough and strong enough to hold all of our honest feelings. We never have to hide them from Him.
And do you know what happened to David's heart by the end of the song? It got lighter. After he handed his hurt to God, he could say, “I will thank You, God, in front of everyone. I will sing about how good You are.” Giving it all to God turned his sad song into a thankful one.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- Has something ever felt really unfair to you? What happened, and how did it make you feel inside?
- David told God how angry and sad he was instead of hitting back. Why do you think it helps to tell God our big feelings?
- After David gave his hurt to God, his heart felt lighter and he said thank You. What is one thing you can thank God for, even on a hard day?
