Psalms 36 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 36 is a song King David wrote about how big and wide God's love is.

Today's Story

David starts his song by noticing something sad. Some people live like God is not even there. They forget all about Him and stop caring about doing what is right. David feels sorry that they are missing out on the very best thing.

Because then David turns to that very best thing - God's love - and his whole song lights up!

“Lord, Your love reaches all the way up to the sky,” David sings. “Your faithful love is as high as the clouds!” Have you ever looked up and tried to find the top of the sky? You cannot! It just keeps going. David says God's love is bigger even than that.

And God's care is deep too - deeper than the deepest ocean. There is so much of it that there is plenty for every person, and every animal, and you. David sings, “How priceless Your love is, O God! People find safety in the shadow of Your wings.”

Picture a mama bird tucking her baby birds safe and warm under her wings. David says God keeps us safe like that. With God we are full of good things, like sitting down to the best feast ever. And the very last line is my favorite: “In Your light, we see light.” God is so bright and good that being near Him helps us see everything clearly.
