Psalm 48 is a song of wonder about God's beautiful, safe city - and about how good it feels to be kept safe by Him.
Today's Story
“Great is the Lord!” this song begins. “He is so good, we can never praise Him enough!”
The song is about God's special city, built on a tall, beautiful hill. It is the happiest place on earth, the singer says. The city has strong, high walls all the way around it.
One day some enemy kings came marching toward the city. They wanted to take it. But when they saw it, they stopped. They got scared and turned around and ran away! Why? Because God Himself was keeping the city safe. Nobody could win against God.
So the people inside were not afraid at all. They felt peaceful and glad, because they knew God was right there, like a strong wall around them.
Then the song says something sweet. “Walk all around the city,” it says. “Count the towers. Look at the strong walls. Then go and tell your children about it - tell them how great and safe our God is, forever and ever.”

Talk About It
- What is a place where you feel really safe and happy? What makes it feel that way?
- The enemy kings ran away because God was protecting His city. How does it feel to know God is strong enough to keep you safe?
- The song says to tell the next person about how great God is. Who is someone you could tell something good about God?
