Psalm 5 is a morning song. King David sang it the moment he woke up, before he did anything else.
Today's Story
The sun was just coming up. Birds were starting to sing. And King David did the very first thing he liked to do every single morning - he talked to God.
“Listen to my words, God,” David prayed. “In the morning You hear my voice. In the morning I bring my prayers to You, and I wait to see what You will do.”
David knew God was awake before he even opened his eyes. So instead of starting his day worried, David started it by handing all his troubles to God. It was like setting them down on the table and saying, “Here, God. These are too big for me, but not for You.”
Then David waited with hope, the way you watch the door when you know someone you love is about to come home.
At the end of his song, David sang about a wonderful promise: everyone who runs to God for safety is glad. God spreads His care over them like a cozy blanket of joy.
