Psalm 50 is a song where God Himself speaks. He tells His people what He really wants from them - and it is not what they expected.
Today's Story
In this song, God speaks. His voice goes out over the whole earth, from where the sun comes up to where it goes down. Everyone stops to listen.
God's people had been bringing Him gifts - sheep and cows and goats - to show they loved Him. That was good. But some of them thought God needed those gifts, like He was hungry.
So God gently says something surprising. “Do I need your animals?” He asks. “Every animal in the forest already belongs to Me. I own the cattle on a thousand hills! If I were hungry, I would not need to ask you - the whole world is Mine.”
Then God tells them what He really wants. “Give Me a thank-you heart,” He says. “Keep the promises you make. And when trouble comes, call out to Me - and I will help you.”
God does not want our stuff. He wants us - our thank-yous, our trust, and our talking to Him. That is what makes Him glad.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- What is something good that happened today that you can say thank you to God for?
- God says He owns the cattle on a thousand hills - every animal everywhere is His. What does that tell you about how big and rich God is?
- God says, “Call out to Me when trouble comes.” What is something you could ask God to help you with?
