Psalms 51 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Psalm 51 is a “sorry” song. King David did something wrong, and it made him feel heavy and sad inside. So he sang this prayer to God.

Today's Story

King David had done something wrong. Really wrong. And he knew it.

You know that yucky feeling when you've done something you shouldn't have, and it sits in your tummy like a rock? That's how David felt. He couldn't hide it. He couldn't fix it himself.

So David did the bravest thing. He went straight to God and told Him the truth. He didn't make excuses. He just said, “God, I did it. I'm sorry.”

Then he asked God for help. “Wash me,” he prayed. “Make me clean. Make my heart white as snow.” It was like he had a big mud stain on the inside, and only God could wash it out.

And David asked for one more thing. “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Give me a new start.”

God heard every word. God loves to forgive. He doesn't stay mad. When we come to Him and say sorry, He washes the yucky feeling away and gives us a fresh, clean heart - like a brand new day.
