Psalms 58 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Have you ever shouted, “That's not fair!”? Psalm 58 is a song for exactly that feeling. King David saw people being unfair, and he told God all about it.

Today's Story

King David was upset. He had watched people doing wrong things and being unfair - hurting others and not even caring. It made David's heart hot and sad.

So what did David do with all those big, upset feelings? He didn't stuff them down. He didn't pretend everything was fine. He took them straight to God and told Him the truth.

“God, this isn't fair!” David prayed. “People are being mean and getting away with it. Please do something!”

And here is the part that helped David feel better. He remembered that God sees everything. Nothing is hidden from God. God knows exactly who is being kind and who is being unfair - and God always makes things right in the end.

“There really is a God who judges fairly,” David said at the end of his song. The fairest, kindest Judge of all is watching, and He will fix what is broken.

David felt lighter. He had handed his upset feelings to the One who can actually do something about them.

Talk About It

  1. When was the last time something felt really unfair to you? How did it make you feel inside?
  2. David told God about his upset feelings instead of hiding them. Did you know you can tell God when you're angry or sad? How does that feel?
  3. God sees everything and always makes things right in the end. Why is it good to know God never misses anything?
