Psalms 60 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 60 is a song God's people sang after a really hard day, when everything felt shaky. It teaches us where to look when we feel too weak to keep going.

Today's Story

God's people had a really hard day. Things had gone wrong, and they felt shaky and sad - like the whole ground was wobbling under their feet.

Have you ever tried your very hardest at something and it still didn't work out? That tired, droopy feeling? That's how they felt. They had run all the way out of their own strength.

So they did the wisest thing. They turned to God and asked for help. “Help us, God,” they prayed. “Trying to do this on our own is no use. We need You.”

And as they prayed, they remembered something that made them stand up tall again. God is strong - way stronger than any hard day. When God helps, hard things become possible.

“With God's help we will win,” they sang. Not on their own. Not with their own little strength. With God's help.

They walked into that day feeling beaten. They walked out singing, because they remembered God was on their side, strong enough for anything.

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever tried really hard at something and it still didn't work? How did that feel?
  2. God's people learned they couldn't do it on their own - they needed God. Why do you think it's good to ask for help instead of always trying alone?
  3. What is one hard thing you could ask God to help you with this week?
