In Psalm 64, King David asks God to keep him safe from people who were saying mean, tricky things about him. He knew God could hear every word.
Today's Story
Some people were being unkind to King David. They were not throwing rocks - they were using words. They whispered together and made sneaky plans. They said mean, tricky things, thinking nobody would notice.
So David did the very best thing. He talked to God about it. “God, please hear me,” he prayed. “Keep me safe. People are whispering mean words like little hidden arrows.”
David knew a big, comforting secret: God hears everything. Even quiet whispers. Even words said behind closed doors. Nothing is ever hidden from God.
David trusted that God would take care of it. He knew God is fair and good, and that mean tricks never win in the end. “God will set things right,” David said. “Everyone will see what He does.”
And here is how the song ends - happy! David sang, “Good people will be glad in the Lord. They will run to Him to stay safe. Their hearts will sing!”
When someone is unkind to you, you can do exactly what David did. You can tell God all about it, because He hears, and He cares.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Has someone ever said something unkind to you or about you? How did it feel?
- David told God all about his problem instead of staying upset by himself. Why do you think talking to God helps?
- God can hear even a quiet whisper. How does it feel to know God hears you when you pray, even a tiny prayer?
