Psalm 75 is a song a man named Asaph wrote. It is about how God is the one who makes things fair.
Today's Story
Have you ever seen somebody show off? Maybe a kid who says, “I'm the strongest! I'm the best! Look at me!”
This song is about that. Asaph starts by saying thank You to God. “We give You thanks, God. We give You thanks! You are close to us, and You do wonderful things.”
Then God Himself speaks in the song. He says something important to the people who were showing off and bragging. He says, “Don't hold your head up so proud. Don't brag like nobody can stop you.”
Why not? Because here is the big secret: being lifted up high doesn't come from yourself. It doesn't come from the east, or the west, or the south. It comes from God. He is the One who decides. He can set one person down low, and lift another person up high.
So we don't have to push and shove to be the biggest. We don't have to brag. We can just trust God to take care of us. He always does what is fair, at exactly the right time.
And Asaph ends with a happy promise: “I will sing about God forever!”
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When is it hard to let someone else go first or be the winner? How does that feel inside?
- God says we don't have to brag, because He is the One who lifts people up. How is that good news?
- What is one thing you can thank God for right now, the way Asaph did?
