Psalm 76 is a happy song that Asaph wrote after God kept his city safe. It is all about how amazingly strong God is.
Today's Story
One time, a big army came to fight against God's city. The soldiers had bows and arrows, shields, and swords. They thought they were so strong. They thought they would win.
But they forgot about God.
God lives in a city called Salem. Do you know what that name means? It means peace. And the God of peace is stronger than any army.
The song says God “broke the arrows and the shields and the swords.” The big strong soldiers couldn't even lift up their hands! The whole fight just stopped. God kept His people safe, and He didn't even need an army to do it.
So Asaph sings, “Wow, God! You are so wonderful. You are so strong. Nobody is like You.”
And here is the best part: God is not just strong. He is good. He stands up to help people who are small and gentle and need rescuing. The same God who is bigger than any army bends down to take care of you.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something that feels really big or scary to you? A loud storm? A bad dream? Something else?
- God is bigger and stronger than the scary thing. How does it feel to know He is taking care of you?
- God gives peace - calm and safe feelings. When do you feel the most calm and safe?
