Psalm 82 is a short, strong song. Asaph wrote it about the people in charge - the kings and judges who are supposed to make sure everyone is treated fairly.
Today's Story
Imagine the most important leaders in the whole world, all sitting in one big room. They are the ones who decide what is fair and what is not.
And then God stands up among them.
God has something serious to say. “How long will you be unfair?” He asks. “How long will you help the mean and powerful and forget about the little ones?”
Then God tells them exactly what He wants. “Stand up for children who have no one to help them. Be fair to the poor. Save the weak from people who are unkind to them.”
God cares about the people everyone else forgets. The child who has no mom or dad to protect her. The family who has no money. The person who is too weak to fight back. God sees every single one of them, and He loves them very much.
The song ends with a big shout: “Rise up, O God! You are the One who is fair. The whole world belongs to You!”
A Big Word

Talk About It
- Has anyone ever been left out or treated unfairly at your school or in your group? How did it feel to see that?
- God notices the people other folks forget. Who is someone small or lonely that you could be kind to this week?
- God says the strong should help the weak. What is one way a big person could help a little person in your family?
