Psalm 84 is a song written by someone who loved being where God is. It feels like the happy sigh you give when you finally get home.
Today's Story
“How lovely is Your house, O God!” the singer says. “I love it here so much!”
The singer is thinking about God's house, the special place where people went to be near God and to worship Him. Just thinking about it makes his heart sing for joy.
Then he notices something sweet. Even the little birds have found a home there! A tiny sparrow builds her nest right near God's house, and keeps her baby birds safe. If even a small bird is welcome to be close to God, then surely there is room for you and me too.
“How happy are the people who get to be with You,” the singer says. The trip to God's house could be long and tiring, but being near God makes even the hard parts feel better, like finding cool water on a hot, dusty day.
Then he says the best line of all: “One day in Your house is better than a thousand days anywhere else.”
There is no happier place than right beside God.
