Psalms 85 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 85 is a prayer for a fresh start. The people had been through a hard time, and they asked God to make things good and happy again.

Today's Story

The people had been sad for a long time. Things had gone wrong, and they missed the happy days when God felt close.

So they prayed a brave prayer. “Bring us back, God,” they said. “Make us glad again. Fill our hearts with joy like You used to.”

And then the singer got very quiet, like someone listening for a friend's voice. “Let me hear what God will say,” he whispered. And do you know what God says to His people? He speaks peace. He tells them: it is going to be alright. I still love you.

Then the song paints the most beautiful picture. It says God's love and His promise to never quit meet together like two friends running to hug. Peace and doing-what-is-good greet each other with a kiss. All the very best things come together at once when God makes things new.

The people felt hope again. God had not forgotten them. He was making everything good, like sunshine after a long, gray rain.
