Psalms 86 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 86 is a prayer King David prayed on a hard day. It shows us we can tell God exactly how we feel - and trust how kind He is.

Today's Story

King David was having a really hard day.

So he did what he always did. He talked to God. “Please listen to me, God,” he prayed. “I need Your help. Make my heart happy again, because I am looking to You.”

But David's prayer was not all sad. Right in the middle of his hard day, he remembered how wonderful God is. “You are kind and ready to forgive,” David said. “You are full of love for everyone who asks You for help. There is no one like You, God. Not anywhere!”

Then David asked for something wise. “Teach me Your way, God,” he prayed. “Help me follow You. Give me a heart that loves You with everything I've got.”

David did not pretend everything was perfect. He told God the truth about his hard day. But he also remembered the truth about God: that God is good, and kind, and always ready to help.

And that is exactly what we can do too.
