Psalms 91 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Psalm 91 is a song about being safe with God. It uses one of the coziest pictures in the whole Bible - a little bird tucked safely under its mother's wing.

Today's Story

Have you ever seen baby birds in a nest? When a storm rolls in, or when something scary comes near, the mother bird spreads out her big wings. The little birds scoot underneath, and she covers them up. Snug. Warm. Safe.

That is the picture this song paints of God. The singer says, “He will cover you with His feathers. Under His wings you will find safety.”

The song calls God a shelter - a safe place to hide, like a strong house when the wind blows hard outside. It calls Him a high tower where nothing dangerous can reach you. When you stay close to God, you are tucked in safe.

So the singer says something brave: “I will not be afraid of the dark of night. I will not be afraid of trouble in the day.” Why so brave? Because God is right there.

And here is a wonderful part: God even sends His angels to watch over you. The song says God tells His angels to guard you wherever you go - to hold you up so you don't even bump your foot on a stone.

God says, “Because you love Me, I will keep you safe. When you call to Me, I will answer. I will be with you.”
