Psalm 92 is a song for the special day each week when God's people rest and worship together. It is all about how good it feels to say thank You to God.
Today's Story
This song begins with a happy idea: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord! It is good to sing praises to Your name!”
The singer loved to thank God all day long. In the morning, when the sun came up, he sang about God's love. At night, when the stars came out, he sang about how faithful God is. Morning and night, his heart was full of thank-Yous.
Why so thankful? Because the singer looked at all the good things God had done, and he could hardly stop smiling. “Lord,” he sang, “You make me glad by the things You do!”
Then the song paints a beautiful picture. It says that people who stay close to God grow strong and tall - like a palm tree, with green leaves reaching way up high. A palm tree that stays planted in good soil keeps growing, year after year, and even when it's old it still makes sweet fruit.
That is what happens to your heart when you stay close to God. You grow. You stay green and healthy on the inside. And like that tall, happy tree, you keep on going strong.
