Romans 5 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Paul keeps writing his warm letter to God's family. In this part he tells them just how much God loves them.

Today's Story

Paul has wonderful news to share, and he can hardly wait to write it down.

“Now that we are God's friends through Jesus,” he writes, “we have peace with God!” Peace means everything is okay between us and God. No more worry that we are not good enough. We can run right up to Him like a child running to a parent with open arms.

Then Paul asks a question to show how big God's love is. He says: think about it — would you do something really hard for a person who was not even nice to you yet?

That is exactly what God did. Paul writes, “God showed how much He loves us. While we were still far away from Him, Jesus came for us.”

Did you catch that? God did not wait until we were good. He did not say, “Be perfect first, THEN I'll love you.” He loved us while we were still a mess. He came to us first.

That is the kind of love that never gives up. It does not wait for us to be good. It just keeps loving, all the way to us.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. When was a time someone was kind to you even though you were being grumpy? How did their love feel?
  2. God loved us first, before we ever loved Him back. How does it feel to know His love does not wait for you to be good enough?
  3. Paul says we have peace with God — we can run right to Him. What would you want to tell God if you ran into His arms right now?
