Ruth 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Naomi has a wonderful idea: Boaz is a special kind of relative who can help their whole family. So Ruth goes to ask him.

Today's Story

Naomi was so thankful for Boaz's kindness. And she realized something wonderful: Boaz was a “kinsman-redeemer” — a special kind of close relative whose job was to help and rescue family members in trouble. Boaz could take care of Ruth and Naomi for good!

So Naomi said, “Go and ask Boaz to be our family's helper and protector — to take us under his care.” Naomi trusted Boaz to do the right and honorable thing.

Ruth went to Boaz and respectfully asked him: “Will you be our family's redeemer? Will you take us under your care?”

Boaz was deeply moved by her trust. “May the Lord bless you, Ruth!” he said. “Don't be afraid. I will do everything you ask. Everyone in town knows you are a good and noble woman — kind, loyal, and true.”

But Boaz was honest and fair. “There's one relative even closer than me,” he said. “I have to give him the first chance, because that's the right way to do it. But don't worry — one way or another, your family will be taken care of.”

Ruth went home with hope, and with a gift of grain Boaz sent for Naomi. Help was on the way. God was quietly working everything out.
