What Does Luke 22:69 Mean?
Standing bound before judges, Jesus claims the highest place in heaven, joining two prophecies: Daniel's Son of man who receives everlasting dominion (Daniel 7:13-14) and David's Lord seated at God's right hand (Psalm 110:1). 'Hereafter' - from now on: the next movement in his story is enthronement.
The court sees a prisoner hours from execution; he announces a coronation. Stephen would glimpse exactly this - 'the Son of man standing on the right hand of God' (Acts 7:56). The verse turns every appearance upside down: the judged one is the Judge, the condemned one the King. Faith is taking his word for where he now sits (Hebrews 1:3).
