What Does Luke 24:30 Mean?
At the table the guest becomes the host. Jesus takes the bread, blesses, breaks, and gives — the same four movements as when he fed the five thousand (Luke 9:16) and at the supper on the night he was betrayed (Luke 22:19).
There is something unmistakably himself in the way he gives bread. Hands that bless and break and give — hands the two are about to recognize. Christ makes himself known in giving, and an ordinary supper becomes holy ground when he presides. The risen Lord still meets his people at tables.
