What Does Mark 14:25 Mean?
With this vow the supper turns toward the future. Jesus declares this cup his last until the kingdom of God comes in fullness; the next feast he names lies on the far side of his death. Even at the table of his farewell he speaks with certainty of drinking again.
It is a word of unbreakable hope: he goes to die, yet he plans a feast. Scripture pictures the consummation as a banquet — a supper of the Lamb, wine on the mountain of the LORD (Revelation 19:9; Isaiah 25:6).
