What Does Matthew 10:41 Mean?
Jesus shows how the welcome of his messengers is rewarded. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet shares in a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous shares in a righteous man's reward. The motive matters: the welcome is given for the sake of who the person is in God's service.
Those who cannot themselves preach or prophesy may still share in the work and its reward by supporting those who do. To open one's home to a servant of God for God's sake is to be joined to that servant's labor in the eyes of heaven.
