What Does Matthew 22:30 Mean?
The answer meets the trap on its own ground. The seven brothers married the widow only because death kept emptying her house -- levirate marriage was a provision for a dying world. In the resurrection, where death has no more dominion, that marrying and giving in marriage has no work to do, and the riddle of the seven dissolves.
"As the angels of God in heaven" carries the point: angels do not die, and the parallel account adds, "neither can they die any more" (Luke 20:36). Risen life is not a reshuffling of death's arrangements but life of a higher order, kept by God. Jesus does not satisfy every curiosity about that life; He establishes its certainty -- and shows that what God has prepared exceeds the questions built to cage Him.
