What Does Matthew 26:16 Mean?
The bargain struck, Judas returns to the company of the disciples and waits. Betrayal becomes his settled project; he is now watching, in every crowd and quiet hour, for what the priests wanted -- Jesus apart from the multitude.
Sin rarely stays a single decision; it becomes a vigilance. The eye that once watched for the kingdom now watches for an opening. Judas walks beside Jesus, eats with Him, hears Him, all while scanning for the chance to sell Him. A divided heart can wear a faithful face.
